Jonas and Plunkett

Jonas and Plunkett sign with Respect Music Publishing

We’ve just signed a “single song assignment” deal with Respect Music Publishing. They are an independent music publisher with world-wide representation. If you check out their website, you will see that they have quite an impressive roster of songwriters and artists.

They are going to help us get our music “out there”, so thanks to them from us!

Jonas and Plunkett radio on Last.fm

All the Jonas and Plunkett albums are now available for your perusal on Last.fm. This nifty little site plays songs from any artist and matches them with similar artists, allowing you to discover new music. Clever stuff. They also do something called scrobbling, which is a made-up word.

Come and see what they do.

iTunes links

There is a bit of re-configuration going on, with regards to our music on the internet.  It seems that our last distribution was a bit limited, so we decided to take over.  We, it seems, have the power to distribute widely.  That means our music is (or will be very soon) available not just on iTunes UK, but also on Napster, Emusic, Rhapsody, Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and iTunes across the whole world.  This is good news for us, because we have a huge world-wide fan-base.  Well, whilst that may not be entirely true, we do have a few “fans” (loosely defined) in far-flung places like the Czech Republic, Hungary, Japan, Russia, the USA and Norwich.

The link for our first album (which has undergone this radical new distribution) is right here:

The new album

The new album has just been sent for “mastering”.  This, I believe, is a technical term for “making it sound better”.  A nice chap in the US called “Jamz” (not his real name) is doing the job for us.  He’s very efficient, so it should be ready soon.  As I sit here, writing this on my laptop, I am listening to the album in my headphones.  Isn’t technology great?

The album contains 13 songs which we have, for some reason, not included in other albums.  Some of the tracks date back to the vintage age of Jonas and Plunkett ( a time we fondly remember as the “golden years”), whilst others were written and recorded just before I left for my jaunt down-under.  The album is a bit more “pop” than the last couple of albums, but we’ve still managed to cram in a few of the classic guitar-and-cello-and-lots-of-vocal-harmony-type songs too.  We’ve called it “Changing the subject” for 2 reasons:  1. The album represents a slight change of style for us, and 2. “Changing the subject” was our name. for our first 2 gigs ever.

We’ve even included a cover version of a Kylie track on the album.

Hope you all like it…

Adrian

The difficult third album…

We’ve nearly finished the 3rd album. This one is a bit more “demo” than the last 2 albums, and a bit more fun. We’ve packed it full with lots of songs. At last count we’re expecting to get about 15 or 16 songs on there. All the recording is done, and we’re now just mixing / mastering.

Release date will probably be in March / April. We’ll post on here nearer the time.

We’ve also just re-released our first album “In no particular order” on iTunes.

J and P are finalists in UK songwriting competition

We entered “Spaceship” in the UK songwriting competition, and got to the final round. We entered it in the “Folk / Country” category. It appears that there is no prize money as such. But they did give us a certificate.

Don’t forget you can buy the song on iTunes here.

The album release date has been put back again - to July 16th 2007. The PR is going quite well - we’re getting some good feedback from the radio and press, and have already hit the airwaves on some local radio stations.
